Does your household stick to a strict budget or are you more like me? I tend to be a bit loosey goosey and after a day of spending I log into my banking app and take a quick peek to make sure those digits at the top haven't gone from black to red. I have a confession to make I have never balanced a checkbook. NOT.ONE.SINGLE.TIME.
I try to be a frugal but my attitude towards my finances has basically been try not to spend too much before I get paid again. This has gotten me in trouble in the past but thankfully I am married to a wonderful fella that is great with watching our money and making sure we have enough for bills and won't overdraft. When we first got married we both worked so we had separate accounts. Now that I'm home full time we've only had one checking account but recently we opened another to help me budget groceries and extras better.
This has gotten me super pumped to create a workable budget and savings goals for our family so that we can start seeing our financial dreams come true. I've seen and heard a lot about mint,com so I bit the bullet and signed us up for an account today.WOW! Seeing all of our purchases grouped together with grand totals was sobering. I've always prided myself on my frugality but the way I spend money paints a different picture, I am so thankful that I took that first step to getting our finances on the right track, Hopefully in a month I will be able to report back with some great things.
